full review of the NAPSTER music download site

Napster

Much has changed since the Metallica VS Napster incident. Recently acquired by Best Buy, and even more recently sold to the 'Real' network which owns and operates Superpass (our #1 rated music download site), Napster used to offer a fantastic download service however due to these changes, we suggest anyone intersted in the Napster service to take a look instead at the SuperPass review which is under the 'Real' umbrella.

They are currently offering an incredible 10 free music downloads just for trying them out and trust us, you won't be dissapointed.

We will keep this review up for a while none the less as opposed to destroying the page, and for anyone not up to date with these latest changes.

Customer Service

You can reach their customer service through phone or email. We emailed them first with a few questions and got clear and thorough answers within 48 hours. We tried their phone service next and the agent was polite and seemed very knowledgeable of the service. Great service overall.

Ease of Use

Their platform is clean and easy to use with all the essentials and some extra features like a billboard section to view and download chart toppers, new release section and much more.

Free Trial / Specials

Napster does not currently offer any type of free trial however as a member, along with unlimited access to their library of over 8 million songs, you get 5 free MP3 downloads a month.

Selection

They have a music library of over 8 million songs including a broad range of genres – rock, pop, alternative, punk, rap, hip-hop, soul, R&B, country, jazz, blues, world, reggae, classical, oldies, children, comedy, and many more.

Cost

Napster is the least expensive music subscription site. A membership gives you unlimited access to their library of over 8 million tracks giving you the ability to listen and save as many as you want to your PC for as long as you are a member. With a standard membership, you can also download 5 free MP3's each month which are yours to keep forever, even if you choose to discontinue your membership:

Napster Membership - $4.95 / month

Conclusion

Napster is the ideal service for any music lover wanting loads of music at their fingertips. It is the only service we suggest that is offering unlimited music access to millions of songs. While there are a few other names out there in the industry, with their $5 / month offer, none come close enough to compete and considering Best Buy is now on board, you can only expect the service to get better in the next while. We predict other services with the unlimited music download model will not last much longer if Napster sticks to their current offer.
